S-l-o-w Cp?

Well it's still 10-15 sconds between screens here and I hope to hell that the backup is still not running. However I do admit I have not usbmitted a ticket, mostly because I fear the dreaded "it works fine here, kindly check it".

It's working fine at the moment
there may be moments where you may find it slow

We are working to optimize this.

What do you consider slow? I am constantly getting times of 10 seconds or more between pages after I click. I can put in a ticket if you'd like. I'm running IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158.

I usually get load times of a few seconds. If you have noticed the problem on any specific page or performing a specific task, please open a ticket

I did submit a ticket and am trying to get the actual IE version from the support person. I am using IE6.xx.x.xxxxxxx whatever (I put it in the ticket) but when I asked what version they were running where they said it worked fine, all I got back was IE 6.0. This makes it incredibly difficult to identify the root cause. I provided a tracert as requested but I know that is useless as I have no problems getting to any other JH service.

(seconds later)

I just saw the updated from JH support and they are running IE 6.0.2800.1106 whereas I am running 6.0.2900.2180. I'm not certain what all the numbers mean but since I am always up to date with the latest Microsoft patches, I would assume that some are missing on the JH support person's PC and that is why the difference.

Perhaps it's an SP2 thing? I know I have it installed, perhaps JH doesn't?

Or perhaps it's just my account.

Thanks to a 5 minute conversation from a former customer here, we identified that the slowness if because I was configured to use "Xpressia" which apparently has rendering problems with IE. Changing to "Xpressia Lite" has resolve the slowness and now everything is very very fast.

While it may be easy to simply say that I should have known since it was in the forum several months ago, I would suggest that the JH support person should have known this in the many exchanges we have had over the last 24 hours. Does JH not track a Typical Problems list?

So, problem fixed, no thanks to JH support.

The only issue we were aware of with Xpressia was that IE can freeze. Not any slowness and I dont experience any slowness with firefox on the Xpressia design

I will remember to keep that on my list of possible problems, I typically use Firefox for many reasons, but it is fast for both themes on Firefox.

I knew that xpressia was slow before, but thought it had been resolved.

Xpressia and Xpressia Lite both look so similar it is hard for us to tell what is being used. Some resellers have pretty highly modified the colors and settings on their control panels and it is easy to overlook something like a theme.

Now you are aware of at least one incident that was slowness and no freezing.

Perhaps the roolback to Patch 1 with HSphere compounded the problem.

As for JH not being to tell... I have not changed the styles at all, and I would expect JH to be able to tell regardless, it is your job after all. I don't get much slack from my boss, I am expected to do my job. I trust JH expects no less from their employees.

I was not commenting on your CP paticularly, but your resolution is noted, I will remember it.

Thank you for sharing the problem as well.

The CP on my reseller account has the Xpressia Lite and a couple others, but the CP on my plan accounts only seem to have access to Xpressia (that's the only option I get in Look and Feel, anyway). I didn't see anything in the plan setup screens that controlled what skins were available; how do I enable Xpressia Lite on my plan accounts?

From your reseller admin cp, go to Look and Feel, Design settings, go to Xpresia Lite and click Modify, then make sure the option to let users select this theme is enabled.
