RoundCube Webmail

I've just come across a fantastic Webmail App, which is also freeware (you can't get any better!), however, after installing it and try and login, I get an error...

"HTTP Error 405 - The HTTP verb used to access this page is not allowed.
Internet Information Services (IIS)"

I was just wondering if anyone's tried this App before, and if they know what could be causing the above?

I'm trying to run it on win2 with php enabled (not sure if it's because it's a Windows box, and not Linux...?)

The App can be found at;

http://www.roundcube.net/

With a brilliant step by step at;

http://www.paulstamatiou.com/2005/10/29/how-to-setup-roundcube-webmail-on-your-server/

Any help would be greatly appreciated with this one - I've been searching for a decent webmail App for a while, and this really "floats my boat"

Cheers all!

Oli

Thanks mate!

I'm having a bit of a problem though...I've just setup a Unix account, and uploaded RoundCube, however, when I browse to the third party domain I created - http://webmail.***.co.uk it says "Directory Listing Denied"

I tried http://webmail.***.co.uk/index.php but it's not even seeing the index.php file, and gives me a 404 error. I've made sure all the files are there through the FTP manager, which they are, so I'm a bit confused.

Any ideas please?

EDIT - I've just found out what it is... http://webmail.***.co.uk doesn't work, but http://www.webmail.***.co.uk does! Is there anyway of making it work without www. ?

EDIT EDIT - Also, WebFire, do you have any ideas how to set it up so you don't need to put the server in, but it isn't limited to only checking one mail server to login? Ie, could you specify a list of mail servers to try and login against in order? I understand you've only just tried it, so apologies if you're not sure.

My guess is you would have to edit the login screen and change the mailserver field to a dropdown with your choices. Make sure to name the field the same. Also, you'll have to figure out what value to give your choices in the dropdown. Study the mailserver field a bit and it should make sense.

Mind you, I haven't looked at the login template. These are just guesses.

Woop! I worked it all out...then realised I didn't need to, because all my clients use the mail4 server!

I recommend this software to anyone, especially to JodoHost! They should fit this along side Horde etc, because this knocks the socks of those Apps!

does this work on Windows servers?
i dont know much php, but i got this error:

Code:
DB Error in *path*\program\include\rcube_db.inc (63): DB Error: connect failed

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: query() in *path*\program\include\rcube_db.inc on line 124

It doesn't seem to work on Windows servers, but the error you're getting above looks to be because it can't connect to the database.

When it's setup correctly, and running on a Windows server, you receive the following error when trying to log in;

HTTP Error 405 - The HTTP verb used to access this page is not allowed.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

WOOPS

dang i noticed i put "mssql1." - forced of habbit 8o

*edit*

after fixing my embarresing mistake - i got it working

the reason you get an error on windows, is because you need to set indexs, i noticed this because it sent me to "/" from "/index.php", meaning it would load the "/index.html" (default login page hsphere makes when you create the sub/domain)

in the Domain Names settings, look for "Directory Indexes" its 2nd to last option, and turn it on, then add "index.php" to the textarea, and it'll work - well does for me :D

I am almost there I just can't seem to get it to login. Keeps telling me my login failed even though I know the user/pass combo I am using works, tested in my outlook. Any thoughts. You mind showing your config?

Works fine for me with autocreate enabled... on Windows server... not a bad webmail app but a little inmature yet.

Sound! Cheers dude! Works a treat, and now all one server :D

Sorry to revive this thread, but I installed RoundCube after reading the rave reviews. I love it! I was wondering though, how can I allow my customers to login through my installation (or can I?) I figured that since we need our fully qualified names to login ie [email protected] and all my clients use the same mailserver (mail4) that we would all be able to hop on my installation and everyone would be able to access their mail through mine. I know I am probably missing something simple...anyone enlighten me?

night_day, you should beable to allow anyone with your domain name to login,

infact i think you can let anyone with a pop email login, if it shows the box for the server.

ive forgotten all the settings, but from what i remember i think you had 3 options, lock all accounts into using one mail server (eg mail.yourdomain.com), allow the user to enter their own on sign up, and 3rd you could add a selection for them to choose from, that would form a drop down box.
but to be honest i never cracked the "drop down" option.

theres also a setting to lock it so only people who have logged in once via RoundCube can login again, eg no new logins.

theres no way to allow users to CREATE email addresses, though if your skilled enough you'd be able to use the HSphere API and create your own script for that, and then allow them to log in via roundcube.

since your message was all about not being able to login try looking for the option in the config file that allows signups (or first logins)

i'll have alook later to see if i can spot which file and where it is.

also, anyone got it workin on Win5? i got it runnin on Win6 but Win5 dont wanna work for some reason :S

being a long time Win5 user, i imediately thought they'd be negative lol.

but by the smiley am guessing its good? i look forward to seeing the announcement

and if it helps - the error i get is a 404 styled page saying:
"HTTP 405 - Resource not allowed" - thats AFTER i enter details TO login

Scotty, thanks for the tips. I've poured over the config files and can't seem to see anything similar to what you mentioned in your post. I assume I'm looking at the main.inc.php file correct? Thanks for your help!

just checked the main.inc.php and yes its that file

// automatically create a new RoundCube user when log-in the first time.
// a new user will be created once the IMAP login succeeded.
// set to false if only registered users can use this service
$rcmail_config['auto_create_user'] = TRUE;
right by the top, like 2/3 down

set "auto_create_user" to true and people should be able to use your service

if that doesnt solve it, then urr i aint a clue. you could PM me the link to your webmail and i could give it a look

Thanks again, I have that set to true and still doesn't seem to work for me. I've sent you a PM. Thanks for your help.

Can you send me the domain on this 405 error? Seeing the error in more detail here I have an idea what it might be.
