Email Straight Into Junk Box

Does every email sent form a jodohost hosted account to hotmail go directly to the hotmail junkmail box as mine does? Is there even one user that this does not happen to and if so can you give me the work around?

Have you added SPF to your domain(MS shows a warning at the top of the message that says something along the lines of this domain does not have sender id, if you do not have)

I'm not sure if it can be done. I've had a ticket open for going on 4 months now and it's not able to be solved. It seems to me it would be a serious issue so I can't beleive that EVERY Jodohost user has this problem and are just putting up with it.
Don't bother with the SPF, it's all been done before to no avail - http://support.jodohost.com/showthread.php?t=7235. It has to do with Hotmail and the Jodohost servers, not the mail settings.
So, if any Jodohost user is able to send to a hotmail account without it going into the junkmail folder (on default Hotmail settings) I would like to know how it's done?

Thanks

My JH mails go to inbox with no problem from multiple domains. I have not had the issue of it going to junk mail. My forum messages also go to hotmail that has no problems.

However my hotmail is actually an msn member account maybe it uses better mailservers on MSN/hotmail side.(free with my DSL sub, MSN sub came along with it)

So, your not concerned with the fact that you may send an email to a hotmail user and have them not receive it? Shouldn't you put that disclaimer on your sign up page? e.g.

****Our jodohost Windows Hosting Plans Include:

  • ASP.NET Hosting (1.1 & 2.0), PHP, Perl & FrontPage 2003
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000, MySQL, PostgreSQL & Oracle 10G!
  • Separate Windows 2003 website and database servers
  • DotNetNuke 3.0 and hundreds of popular ASP/ASP.NET scripts supported
  • Powerful Dual Opteron SCSI RAID5 Servers and InterNAP bandwidth

**** Don't expect to email to a standard hotmail account with any of our plans, this minor issue cannot be resolved.

I'm curious if even one jodohost reseller is able, or has a client that is able, to successfully send an email to a standard hotmail account. Also, I wonder if anyone else sees this as a major issue since you have what, 1000's of users that are potentially affected by this? Not too mention the clients of resellers who have no idea this is even there host's problem.

As I have said, this is related to SPF, we have a feedback loop sent from hotmail to us anytime there is any issue with email sent to hotmail from our IP ranges. There is little to any spam sent to hotmail from our whole IP range(many thousands of IPs), and the servers themselves are not the issue. The method of sending, PHP mail, etc all plays a factor. The mail needs proper DNS records, proper HEADERS in the email, and proper MIME encoding. All of these are items to check, if you have SPF done, then check mail headers and see that they are correct.

Stephan,
You are wrong, jodohost servers are the issue. For the 3rd time, it's not the SPF, or the mail headers. Before directing users to your SPF solution please gather the proper information from ticket CKO-66440-371 and speak to your co-workers. This problem was noted back in early May. Remember this - http://support.jodohost.com/showthread.php?t=7235? It didn't work then it's not working now. Do you even know if this is a jodohost wide problem? Perhaps it's only on a few servers. Perhaps if you concentrated your efforts on a new solution time wouldn't be wasted going back to the same invalid solutions you suggested 3 1/2 months ago.

This is the second time a member of jodohost support has made everyone backtrack on this issue because you fail to read the proper information that is available to you. Hence my frustration at your obtuseness and disregard for my issue in insinuating I haven't done enough to solve it when one of your own staff has stated - "...This makes our servers look like spammers to Hotmail/Brighmail(Symantec)...".

Sorry for my curtness (you will notice I was very polite initially, 3 months ago) but please stop and think before you hit the "Submit Reply" button next time.

I have no problem with email being sent from my JodoHost accounts arriving in my hotmail inbox... standard account, standard settings.

Just verified this through a couple different webmail applications - Horde and DWMail. Not able to verify through stand alone client at the moment.

Great! Thanks for the info Penhall. I'm going to pass this information to the ticket. Knowing that some are and some are not having problems on this issue narrows the problem further.
Can anybody else provide input.

Thanks

George, it would be helpful if you could PM the headers to me as well, as I can assist in comparing them at the same time. I can then forward them on to the unix side and see if there is any noticeable difference.

No problems...

But now my messages are going to Junk in my hotmail account too. Same webmail, same subject, same text as previous - now being marked as JUNK.

... personally I hate HOTMAIL - many people I know have ditched it because of problems like this. I guess you get what you pay for sometimes.

... and sent the same text as previously accepted through my non-Jodohost related email account (Outlook) - got marked as junk.

Sent a new message from Outlook - different text- went through. Retried same text again as new message - went through fine.

Can you tell me is the source at the very top 3 lines marking any as TEMP FAILURE, I am getting this on some messages and wondering if they are having some failures on their side right now.

Actually my wording was a bit off it looks like this:
X-SID-Result: TempError

Sorry... was only looking at headers and not source - yup, its there:
X-Message-Status: n:0
X-SID-PRA: George Marchewa <george!$tutshi.com>
X-SID-Result: TempError
