    Recent hardware problems?

I don't consider myself lucky, nor do I consider all my friends lucky, nor my previous hosts (of which there have been many). None has experienced so many failures than JH has in the past year. Do I blame JH? Of course. I'm paying for service, and when it fails, it's the fault of the service...

    Recent hardware problems?

Don't get me wrong. I was delighted to see that JH recovered from this recent failure in what I would consider record time considering the nature of the failure. I am not happy however, that the failure happened at all. I don't find it funny at all that JH continues to have problems, being it...

    Recent hardware problems?

Yash, you should know that the most expensive h/w is not always the best h/w. So quoting the price of the h/w doesn't make me feel any better. Your comment on the XEON's is interesting. It almost proves my point.

    Recent hardware problems?

In the past year, JH has had problems with hard drives, RAID controllers, motherboards, and network cards. Where is JH getting this hardware? I have less problems with the $10 second-hand hardware I get from the store down the street. I hope JH has warranty and priority support these hardware...

    Great Customer Service

    I wouldn't know what that's like.

    Network Card Issue

Yet another problem with HSphere and PSoft that makes me worry about your dependance on them.

    Great Customer Service

And rare too I guess. I don't know anyone else who has received a call from JH.

    Access v. MSSQL

Just change to the directory where setup is in a command prompt window and enter the line I gave you above. SA = System Admin, THE admin account for SQL Server Strong Password = a password that has letters and numbers and upper and lower case.

    Access v. MSSQL

If I remember correctly, if you run "setup sapwd=Password1" ensuring that "Password1" is a password that contains upper and lower case letters, and also contains at least one numeric digit, then Setup will complete.

    "In Progress"

I just realized that there is an "In Progress" status within the HSphere ticket system, although I don't think I have ever seen JH use this status. Usually my tickets go from "New" to "Resolved", or worse, "Closed", even sometimes when the problem has not been resolved. I think using the "In...

    folder size

The obvious way: 1. Turn off the stats in the CP 2. Use the File Manager to delete the AWStats and webalizer directories 3. Turn on the stats in the CP Simple eh?

    folder size

I think the idea here is not to give up one, but rather to reset both often enough that the size of the data file doesn't become a problem. Unfortunately, it's a trade off of storing stats and managing disks space.

    ASPEMAIL from Persits

Semantics, I know, but... They may be better solutions, but they are not fixes to the problem, only work arounds. Check your ITIL definitions.

    MS SQL manager

I think that's an IE thing with all it's security "features".

    ASPEMAIL from Persits

Correction: Both are workarounds. Fixes is when you find the root cause and permanently resolve the problem.

    S-l-o-w Cp?

Perhaps the roolback to Patch 1 with HSphere compounded the problem. As for JH not being to tell... I have not changed the styles at all, and I would expect JH to be able to tell regardless, it is your job after all. I don't get much slack from my boss, I am expected to do my job. I trust JH...

    S-l-o-w Cp?

Now you are aware of at least one incident that was slowness and no freezing.

    S-l-o-w Cp?

Thanks to a 5 minute conversation from a former customer here, we identified that the slowness if because I was configured to use "Xpressia" which apparently has rendering problems with IE. Changing to "Xpressia Lite" has resolve the slowness and now everything is very very fast. While it may...

    S-l-o-w Cp?

I did submit a ticket and am trying to get the actual IE version from the support person. I am using IE6.xx.x.xxxxxxx whatever (I put it in the ticket) but when I asked what version they were running where they said it worked fine, all I got back was IE 6.0. This makes it incredibly difficult to...
