Are limits ... limits?

I am looking to getting a reseller package by the mid of August. (12th). However, I used to be a reseller-center customer before the buy out, and the control panel they had there had fake limits. (aka, they have "limits", but are not enforced).

Does this control panel have real limits? For instance, I assign a customer 100 MB of space.. will the system make sure he cannot use more then 100MB of space, or does the system not care at all and allow him to go over so the system can charge?

If you setup the billing parameters, the user can go over(to maxes that you set if you wish), and will be biled per MB or GB for overages. The way it bills all depends on if you fill out all the billing system parameters for overages.

i believe the account is automaticlly suspended.

and you will have t re activate after the account has been credited. with extra resources.

im not sure but i think thats the way , and they may have to wait for the next month

if you set a hard limit for bandwidth, wot would happen to there site?

You can also choose what happens. Including the percentual amount of overage.

Ex1: if it reaches 100% of the resource, it will suspend the account/OR, it will send a warning.

Ex2: if it reaches 80% of the resource, it will send a warning, AND it will suspend the account when it reaches 120% of the resource
( so, he would have a 20% extra before sorting things out with you).

Ex3: no warnings are sent, and he is suspended when reaching xx%

That's more or less how it goes. I havent got eveything memorized, but that's the principle. Basically you can set the rules for limits.

ah right - i knew you could set how far they go over, didnt think that'd be the 'hard limit'

it doesnt really seem a problem though, as you can charge them extra if/when they go over

They are not the same thing. Hard Limits and Cp limits.
The hard limit, is what it says.

The warnings and its behaviour, is how you deal with the limits set on the clients cp.

Under Summary Disk Usage ... This explains two different types of quotas and such, but quite boldly states that in both types of quotas, the customer is charged if he goes over (no matter what) ..

I was wondering where the third option is? The one where there is a hard limit and the customer's account us disactivated until he pays?
