Hello,
Some clients sites are not able to send emails to external addresses. They are all using ASPMail, ASPEmail, or other ASP components. I do not know how long this has been an issue but it is quite disturbing. I read another forum post that states that the RemoteHost or SMTP needs to be set to localhost. Is this correct?
If this is, I would have appreciated Jodohost telling me in some way that I should not use the recommended SMTP property defined in the documentation for these scripts. I don't believe this is the standard setup for this setting and no other host I have used has had issues using mail.thedomain.com. All I can say is this is very embarrassing for me as this may have been an issue for a while. Since I was receiving the emails at addresses at Jodo host I assumed they were functioning correctly. Obviously, I should have tested this and my assumptions were wrong.
The other thing that is confusing is why it works on some domains and not others. I tested it on two domains today where one worked and the other did not. Doing the same test now, neither works. They are now both returning the error: Error was 503 RCPT first (#5.5.1). Changing the SMTP property fixes the issue but again, I wish I had known this before.
Irritated and confused...
