AWStats logs

Bass
I'm using AWStats on one of my least visited websites (400'ish unique visitors a month) which meets my needs...
However, in the AWStats directory there is a file called awstats_archive.mydomain.com.log which is 100 MB in size after 3 months of gathering stats (this is on Win5 btw)

Do I really need this file? What happens if I delete it? :p
Imagine what the size would be on a busy site after a year of statistics...

That file on my site grows to about 500 - 600M within the month. At the end of the month, I stop AWStats through the CP, delete the entire directory through the File Manager, then enable AWStats again. I don't need stats on-going, just to see what the latest traffic is like.

Yeah, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the software package, which lists lots of things per month..
AWStats on Linux only uses a couple of MB on a fairly busy website.

Anyone? I really don't understand why it has to take this much diskspace on Windows, but not on Linux.

I have opened a discussion about this at PSOFT's forum. I'll let you know what the results of that are..
