Backup Questions

Hello,

We're looking into moving all of our sites to JodoHost from Readyhosting. We recently ran into a major problem at RH where all of their mail servers died and our clients went without email for 4 days, and then when email access was restored, we had lost all email that was on the servers before the crash. They could not import any old inboxes for any of our clients.

For most this was not a problem, but we had 2 that relied solely on webmail for their email. Therefore, all of their email was now gone. Despite our instructions to use Outlook to pull down their mail, naturally we are blamed for this loss and we will most likely lose them as accounts.

So we have decided to pull all of our accounts from RH and Jodohost looks like our pick for these and all future sites. The only problem is that we are very cautious now about who we use and how they backup their data. So can you please tell me, how do you handle SQL and email backups? How often do you do this and how hard is it to get a restore should something go wrong?

We really like what we see so far so this would be the deciding factor for us.

Thanks.

Backups take place every 24 to 48 hours. This includes web data, email data and SQL databases. All our servers feature RAID to ensure a minimum level of disk redundancy as well.

We have had an email server crash in the past, and we were able to restore all email data for our clients. We've had web server crashes in the past, and we've always restored customer data from backups. We have a solid backup system in place
