Brute force scans across network - seeing some slowness

We are seeing large botnets doing brute force scanning of Wordpress sites again, this is causing random slowness throughout network in places on both windows and linux servers. We are checking into it and seeing what we can do to help resolve but it is a very large amount of networks and IPs mostly infected computers at real providers doing the scans.

We are not seeing anything down, just to be clear, but some replies to requests taking a bit longer due to the masses of requests hitting at one time on some servers as the scan passes.

This is a reminder also to keep WordPress up to date and using the latest version release and plugins

Seems to have slowed down in amount of scanning going on and not much of an issue now.
