CDOSYS mail problems

One of my websites seems to be unable to send mail via CDOSYS. The wierd thing...it's using the exact same mail processing script that another domain is, but the other domain *can* send email via CDOSYS.

jamesgang.net CDOSYS mail processing works fine.
furyandfire.net does not

Both are using SOOP Portal, both are configured identically (save mail server names and SMTP authentication accounts for sending), but furyandfire.net wont' send any mail.

Any thoughts or suggestions? At first I thought it might have something to do with the SPF record, but I *can* send email via POP3 connecting to mail.furyandfire.net on port 25 and receive it at another off network mailbox that I know looks for SPF validation, so that can't be it.

I've tried everything I can think of, but it's just not working.

Hrm, are you getting an error? CDOSYS should just work, CDONTS won't however.

No errors at all reported from the ASP page.

Is there somewhere I can go view raw logs from IIS to see if anything is reported at that level?

Yes, in web options go to Transfer Log, enable it then you can view the raw logs, it will make a folder called logs and log it all to there.

Enabled logging and tried to send mail from the site again. No error reported in the logs, but no mail either.

I'm stumped.

Suggestions?

ok do you have a ticket about it yet with maybe a sample url for us to check it? I am really not sure, I have not heard of such from CDOSYS, and as you have said from one domain it is fine, so I know it is not a server config issue itself, if it all wasn't working I could certainly see that as a possibility.

Yeh, I do now. I wanted to try a couple of other things before sending up any more red flags. Those failed too, so I submitted a ticket.

Ok...I changed the SMTP server to mail1.jamesgang.net (the servers real name) from the alias "mail.furyandfire.net" and it worked.

Why does CDOSYS not like working with mail server DNS aliases? Is that a DNS configuration issue?

It works now, but it's not really working "correctly", which I'd prefer it do.

[EDIT]

Not to mention...some systems are refusing email from furyandfire.net now because it's not passing SPF validation at the receiving end.

Also, since the help desk ticketing system still isn't showing my previous tickets in my history I can't update it to provide this new information.

ok on the SPF record, you need to add *.gohs**ere.com (I think you know the rest of that in proper form) to the SPF record in order for it to work 100%.

Then the tickets, I am making good progress on a new system, just have to get some email notice kinks owkred out, and setup a server specifically for it on the weekend, we are testing it now on VPS servers and it should go into use next week, I am sending you a PM to a link to a windows helpdesk that we are trying now, it's url will change when we go live, but it will give you reliable ticket system for the time being, until we have a full desk on a dedicated server to replace Cerberus.

Hmmm....I'm not seeing how or where to add a custom SPF record.

Can ya point me in the right direction? =)

ok, on your domain menu, there is a DNS line(oh you need to have custom DNS enabled on your plan, to see this as an option, so if your plan does not have it enabled, go back and turn this on there in the reseller side plan.)

on the DNS portion there should be a small icon tha tis to Edit, then it will have there DNS TXT Records, this is where your SPF record will be in place.
