Client MX record

We have a client that just switched over to our server for hosting and their email has stopped receiving mail. They internally host via Exchange server and not with Jodohost. Where exactly does the MX record or any host entry reside? Do we need to put this with the website information in the account or is this taken care of through the Registrar where they registered the domain name.

Thanks.

I know the nameservers have propgated because we changed them on Monday. I noticed from the link you posted that we needed to disable mail services from the domain settings on our end, so we just did that. They still aren't seeing any email. Is there something else that we need to change as the reseller to their account? Thanks.

I don't know if this is related, but now I can't even get to our own email. I get this error:

A fatal error has occurred
DB Error: connect failed
Details have been logged for the administrator.

OK, actually I think our email is OK. Horde client is failing but we can still get in with Squirrelmail. But our original problem still exists where our client can't see their email.

Is their custom MX records are set as primary ?

Also, create a ticket so that we can check mail settings of that domain.

I just opened a ticket for the Horde client being down and also our client's MX problems. We are used to clients who also have their email hosted through us so I apologize if we seem a little clueless here. Thanks for you help. I hope we can get this fixed soon.

You will need to set the MX priority to 5 for the client's mailserver to receive mail before the JH mailserver.

So just to be clear, I have to leave mail services off, and add a custom MX record which has the name blank, data value of 5, and the IP address of the client's external email server?
