Compress - Zip File Password

OJM

Perch
I recently backed up two ex-clients files by compressing their domain folder, and downloading the Zip file (through WebShell).

However, when I've gone to extract the files, it's asking for a password on every single file.

Anyone have any ideas please? Is this a WebShell feature, as I haven't seen it before on other folders I've compressed to download.

At first I thoughtit was due to the two Zip files each include an AwStats folder - would this cause all files to become password protected?

However, I have just backed up a folder WITHIN a domain, and it's doing the same.

HELP!

Wow, never seen such a thing! I have used webshell a few times and never had it ask for a password at all.

It's when I've zipped the file, and downloaded it to my PC - it's then asking for a password on every single file, when I tell it to extract it.

Maybe webshell is creating something of an improperly formatted zip and another utility besides the one you're using would do a better job of opening it. Try something like 7-Zip.

This problem is still happening - every single directory I try and ZIP to download. Once downloaded, I try and extract and it's wanting a password.

I'm extracting using XP's built in ZIP utility. I admit I haven't tried using any other utility, but I don't really want to use any other to be honest...

Any ideas Jodo?

I think you need to zip something, leave it on the server and then get Jodo support to download it and see if it unzips for them. That way you'll know if its a server side problem or something at your end.

I've no idea if it will help but I highly recommend 7-zip. http://www.7-zip.org

I have a backup facility included within hsphere on another provider, although its hsphere version 2.5 is there a possiblilty that this backup facility could be made available to resellers here? Ive found it really useful in the past.
