Exalted Code Master!
I'm trying to prevent direct access to PDF files on a client's web site. They have a CMS that blocks a page with links to these files. But, somehow Google found the PDFs and my client is upset that their "private" files are accessible.
Given that they're on Windows and I can't use an htaccess file, I set up directory protection using HSphere's File Manager. It doesn't seem to be working. Well, it was working this afternoon but now it's not. I can enter the URLs to the PDFs and open the files without being prompted.
I've re-applied the protection. I've confirmed the .htprotect file is in the directory with my FTP client. I don't see the /username/.htmaster/.ok_user file, though. I have edited it several times through the wizard, so it must be there someplace.
Anyone have any tips (besides moving them to a *nix/apache server)?
Thanks,
Tim
