DNN 4.4.1 install steps

Ok... I am about to do my first 4.4.1 install and want to make sure I get everything done needed for Jodo Host.

I already created the database and database user and had jodo make the users DBO.

I have already created the domain, but have NOT copied the DNN files up yet.

Do I need to have the files copied up first before Jodo can enable the necessary rights?

With the newer DNN 4.4.1 (I have done the 3.x in the past) what does Jodo have to do on their end?

Thanks.

Kindly first remove all your files for DNN 3 and then upload the new version files there.

Edit your web.config files as per the database details provied to you.

I don't have DNN 3.x installed for this domain... this is a new domain and a new DNN 4.4.1 install.

I was just wanting to know the steps Jodo takes to make a DNN 4.4.1 site work.

- I know you that you give the DB user DBO permissions for the database we create.

- I also know you have to enable .NET 2.0 for the domain.

- I also know you have to set some rights of some sort.

I would like to know what specifically Jodo has to do (other than DBO and setting up .NET 2.0) to make the DNN 4.4.1 function properly?

Also I wanted to know whether or not the DNN files have to already exist before you set rights or can you set those right without the file already being there?

I asked because I recall having to make sure the 3.x files already existing (another domain) when you set this up for me based on that version. And in the ticket it appears from the reply that it is ok to NOT have the DNN files already in the domain as a requirement before setting rights.

Just trying to get clarification.

Thanks

It is not necessary for the files to be there when we give rights. All we do is provied rights for asp.net accout so that DNN can work.

Ok... I have some other questions in regards to install DNN 4.4.1 and hopefully someone knows the answer.

ALL of the documentation I can find talk about installing this on your local computer which require a lot of manual steps that I cannot do on Jodo. Things like virtual directories and so forth.

I am trying to figure out EXACTLY how the files should be installed if using the source install.

In the past in the 3.x the folder structure was nearly identical between the install version and the source version. You just dumped it in your domain folder.

Now with 4.4.1 the install version looks similar to the 3.x structure... just dump into domain folder, but the source version is broken into to folders library and website.

First should I use the source version if putting it on jodo?
If so do I really have the folder website in the domain folder? That would mean I could not get to DNN from the www.mydomain.com. I would have to use the website folder in addition which I don't want to do.

Just looking for some clarification from someone that may have already done this.

Thanks
