DNN Install - Question

It's been several months since my last DNN install of 3.1.1.

When installing the DNN files I recall unzipping them locally and ftp'ing them up to the site AND it ALWAYS worked.

AND

I remember just ftp'ing the zip file to the site and then having the file manager unzip it and then having some problems. I think it had something to do with some of the directories like Install\Portal having a zero byte file. Of course this may have been with 3.1.0.

Anyway, what method do you DNN'ers use to get the install files to the site. Uploading the zip or all the individual files.

Thanks

All the individual files for me... expanding via the file manager always seemed to created broken image links etc in DNN... why I don't know, but it did.

Yea... I had some weird stuff as well. It would be nice if the unzip worked, but I am scared to chance it. Thanks.

How about you upload the zip and reuqest support extract it to the domain root(or specify where if elsewhere) for you? We do this for a number of users, as that 0byte think can cause problems! I have seen it oh, 10-12 times probably.

Thanks... I had already pushed this one up, but I'll remember that for next time. It didn't take that long anyway so no biggie... but good to know you can do it if I need it in a pinch.
