I have a request.... I recently made some changes to one of my domains hosted here, to point the MX record from one server to another (this customer uses a 3rd party hosted email service). The problem is, after making the changes to the MX records and the corresponding CNAME records to point mail.domain.com over to the new service, I find that only one of the 2 name servers is updated. The other name server, according to tech support, will update on its own and will take a few hours.
In the meantime mail randomly is being sent to one of two servers, depending on which DNS server the sending mail server checks for the MX records.
It's not a good idea to have name servers that are out of sync... I would like to suggest that the automatic updates for the name servers be timed to sync together at the same time.
