Domain Pointing Problem

I want to replace a site's domain name for a seamless launch.

Right now I have companysite.mysite.com and I want to point companysite.com to the folder where I've been developing the company's site.
Afterwards, I want to remove companysite.mysite.com altogether and leave the site running with their actual domain.

I can't find anything to simply point to a folder. What's my malfunction?
 
you could do this with a domain alias, or if you need SSL on the site anyway you could do it with a dedicated IP where it will reply with any name pointing to it including subdomains.
