Downtime Alert: IP Changeover

Dated: August 10, 2003

We will be completing the IP changes on the main servers this evening.
We expect the Control Panel server and FTP access to be unavailable during this time. We do not expect any websites to be unavailable during this change. Overall the process should be completed within 2 1/2 - 3 Hours.

This will impact those sites or email clients that are accessing the servers by ip address. To prevent this from causing a problem you should change the way you connect to the servers.
For instance:
The mail server instead of connecting using the ip address of 139.81.148.17 use
mail.yourdomainname.com
The MySql server instead of connecting using the ip address of 139.81.148.17 use
mysql.jodohost.com

Currently the IP migration scripts are running and are assigning the new ips to all shared websites. This process takes longer with some domains and is causing these sites to be unavailable, this will be corrected shortly when the migration scripts finish running. We apologize for the inconvenience and are doing everything possible to expedite the process. We are expecting the scripts to complete the change within the next 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours.

The information that we received from Hsphere Support was that it should take about 2 for it to be completed. That the control panel would be down during this period but would only effect individual sites for a short period during the change.

Current Status as of 7:00 PM CST (GMT -6):
Hsphere Support has encountered a problem with the scripts designed to facilitate this change in IP addresses. This problem was unforeseen and totally unexpected. Sites are fully intact on the servers and the servers are running. The problem exists with scripts that handle DNS and routing of these sites. Hsphere Support is working with Psoft (makers of Hsphere) to resolve this issue but currently we do not have an ETA for you. We value your business and know the importance of your sites and the revenue they generate. We hope to have this issue resolved in the next few hours.

Current Status as of 4:00 AM CST (GMT - 6)
We are now completing a recovery from backup because the reassign
process failed miserably. Hsphere Support is working now to restore the Windows sites that are affected by this outage and expect to have all sites up and running as soon as possible.

We at JodoHost would like to apologize for this serious lapse
in service and this is not how we want to be known by our customers. We will also strive to do everything possible to earn back your trust.

We successfully ran the IP migration scripts again between 4:00AM to 11:30AM EST today. Sites as well as the Control Panel were unavailable for certain periods of time during this process. Live updates were posted for this on the Network Status page and not on the Forum because the forum had become inaccessible during this period.
