Drupal multisite install and virtual hosts

I don't know how familiar the support team is with Drupal, but here is the question / challenge I am having.

Drupal supports a multi site install, allowing different sites (domains) running off of the same shared code base and database. http://drupal.org/node/43816

In order to utilize this feature apache needs virtual host entries.

Can this be done in a shared hosting environment?

I think domain aliases will do what you want. You can set them in HSphere.

Drupal wants multiple domains to hit the same site. "Site" really meaning root web directory. Then the PHP code in Drupal looks at the URL to figure out what real site to deliver.

DotNetNuke can do the same sort of thing.
