Guppy
hi, everytime i try to access my email from my pc i get this error:

https://loginnet.passport.com/ppsecure/md5auth.srf?lc=1033

It tells me its unavailable etc yet i can access email from other pc's. I also cannot access ordering online products as it stops me, does anyone know how to fix this? is it a firewall problem or wrong setting? its only happened in last few days, before that it was fine. thanx

Hi, noone has replied to my problem so im basically just asking again as it is a frustrating problem and any advice wud be great. please, if u know anything pls say, thanx

im not very computer literate so i dont know wot https means, but it has only happened recently and i only have hotmail email addresses. do u have any ideas y its https? and how to solve this?

https versus http means that https is encrypted and runs on port 443 instead of http which runs on port 80. The "s" stands for secure. I don't use Hotmail anymore, but I was just thinking about your "firewall" suggestion. If you are behind a very strict firewall that only allows outbound connections on port 80 and not port 443, then this would explain why other web sites work but not this one - which uses https.

Are you saying that you cannot access that web site at all or that you can reach it and then cannot log in? When I clicked the link you provided, it redirected me to this URL:
http://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?id=0
Can you get to that site?

hey, the site that it redirected you to i can also get to come up but it is after i type my email addy and password that it stops. im now sure your right and it must be the https. i have norton anti virus and firewall so how do i change settings etc to allow it, or the port method u suggest. i think you have got the right idea so thanx

I found some details from Symantec's site that might help you. Here is a link to the actual article in case the part I am quoting does not help. Good luck.
