Exchange Server

Hi.

One of my resold accounts uses an MX entry to send email directly to his Exchange server. His server is going offline for a week, but obviously they don't want to lose any mail.

My question is .. how long will Jodo's servers keep trying to deliver mail for before bouncing it? Or would I be better reverting to the default MX records and collecting mail in a standard POP account?

Thanks for any info or advice!

Regards
Dave.

Well it won't retry for a week, what I would do in this case is actually turn the hsphere mail service on and make a few of the most common mail boxes with a generic password that maybe you and their exchange admin know. Then they won't miss mail, and they can pick it up from a different server. You could make this a higher MX record than the exchange server and even leave it like this after it is running.

Thanks for your reply.

I think they've found another solution, by means of a temporary server, so panic over (for me at least!)

Dave.

Future reference - anyone running exchange should use www.nettica.com

Front-End or Backup MX

It is cheap, it is solid.

I use it for 20 or 30 exchange installs and they are great.
