Frontpage Support - continuing or phasing out?

MicroShaft say they will soon lo longer be supporting Frontpage extensions, and I've heard that v3 of HSphere won't support FP either. CPanel is phasing it out also.

So just so we know in advance, how is Jodo approaching this issue? Will there be at least one FP server continuing for our FP clients? Or will FP be phased out?

It's an important question for many of us, so if someone from Jodo can answer directly, that would be wonderful. :)

(I say MicroShaft coz they give you about a year to enjoy your expensive certification before discontinuing what you just trained in.)

Thanks Stephen, I must have missed that one.

Does it apply only to Linux as far as Jodo is concerned? MS is discontinuing Windows FP support also I believe. (Being replaced with Expression Studio)

Microsoft is continuing to support FrontPage extensions on Windows boxes for quite some time still. I do admit that the entire migration of the Microsoft technologies is very confusing though.

FrontPage Extensions on Windows..are still supported

FrontPage Extensions on *nix no longer supported.

FrontPage itself (which is separate from the extensions issue) will still be supported for many years.

Expression Web will work either with or without use of FrontPage extensions 2002. To get the most use from it you should use asp.net 2

php support is not natively available in Expression Web..however will become available at some point. (php will still work..it just means you need to do pure hand coding)

Just a few tidbits that I am aware of..but I do not speak for any of Jodo's policies. :D

Thanks InTheMarket. The confusing issue for me is PSoft's wording in their announcement,
http://www.psoft.net/misc/frontpage_support_termination.html

"Due to Microsoft End-Of-Life for FrontPage, we will be terminating support for FrontPage as of December 1, 2006."

Then they mention Apache implementation specifically... yet the sentence above is very general. So I'm still wondering whether HSPhere is still going support FP on Windows or not?

Stephen can you clarify? Does this just apply to Linux?

Thanks

I wish it would be windows too FP server extensions are terrible messy :)

But it is just linux.
