Help with linux account

I'm more familiar with the windows side of hosting, so I've got a couple of questions with the linux hosting here.

I have created a linux account and by default the site always asks for a username/password. Now nothing that I've created actually works for that. How do I set it up so that the site is actually viewable without having to log in?

Also, this is on web12 and I continuously get an error via ftp that the max clients (100) are already connected. Is this common?
 
that URL is not going to a linux account but a windows account, it seems to me there is some DNS mixup causing these errors.

If I cancel the user/pass prompt it gives:
HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

So there is surely some error in DNS making all this an issue.
