How to organize domains?

I have a question for others out there that are resellers. I have two types of clients, one that I manage all aspects of their site and one that has access to the control panel and does most everything them selves.

With the clients that are hands off, how would you setup their account? Would you just add a domain into your account or would you create them as an account with their own CP? I know that they will not go over on disk quotas as I am the only one uploading for the site.

Any comments?

Since you only get a certain number of control panels "free", it makes sense to host the accounts that you control under your own control panel. The only reason I can think of not to do it that way is because you have to handle the billing for the hosting yourself if they don't have their own control panel. But, if they don't have their own control panel, I would imagine that this is because you are also designing their web site and already dealing with billing them anyway.

You might want to have an additional control panel for yourself with the other OS (Windows/Linux) compared to your own hosting control panel. That way, you will be able to offer sites that you control on both platforms.

Hi!

I?m very new with my Reseller account, I have a valuehost.
Whats the difference between users and accounts?
The Reseller plan says "User accounts = 15 Free", what does it mean?
Does it mean I can have 15 controlpanels?

I also going to handle most of my websites with different domainnames for my own customers by myself. At a later point I maybe let some customers sign up and have own controlpanels. (It feels that I have to learn it better my self first)
Don?t really understand this with users and accounts.

pehu,

Right, you get 15 control panels. Having multiple domains in your own control panel does not consume one of your 15 users (control panels).

VividWeb,

Another thing to consider is bandwidth. It might be a little tricky to figure out if a site has gone over their bandwidth limit without having them in the control panel. You might be able to figure it out with one of the log analyzers like Webalizer of AWStats - not sure.

Thanks for the feedback. You pretty much just confirmed my own thoughts on the subject. For the most part the domains that are under my main account will not eat up that much bandwidth, but is a good suggestion and I will create a control panel for each account that may use up more bandwidth.

One other thing I have found is that by grouping multiple domains unser one account, there is no way for them to see their own AWStats. Can I create a log in for them to be able to see their AWStats with out having to give out my ftp account info?
