how to run unix command

I had to set up a linux server because I want to install Insoshi which runs on Ruby on Rails - so, I'm lost - how do I run a command - where is the command prompt

git clone git://github.com/insoshi/insoshi.git

I know where it is on my ubuntu machines - but no clue here :) Color me dense.
 
We are not support RoR except on semi dedicated linux right now. There is a major bug in the implementation that takes RoR, PHP, perl etc down in certain cases that is far to easily to replicate.
