Is Mcypt installed : HSBC CPI Virtuemart plugin

I am planning to install the HSBC component for Virtuemart in Joomla and wanted to check if Mcypt is installed. I'm using linux server.

The HSBC CPI payments component requires the 'mcrypt' module enabled for PHP - please ask your hosting company to enable mcrypt

mcrypt should be installed and working on linux servers.

I have checked the phpinfo output on several and all have it on the default config.
