Hello,

When is JodoHost going to update HSphere, the version we are using is dated 04/10/06 that is the oldest version that PSoft lists on their site. That makes us eleven patches back. I know you guys like to wait for a stable release, but since they are working on 3.0 now, seems like we should at least be at 2.5x by now.
 
3.0 is just 2.5.1 beta renamed. Don't let the naming confuse you. :)

the whole 2.5 series is still a big beta project.
 
So what is PSoft doing with hsphere i wonder. It seems like 2.5 SHOULD be stable by now, considering theyve branched it to a version 3, i was trying out the demo on their site and it seems much better, the menu system is better organized and everything.

Is it the deployment process that is the issue, as in, the possibility of damaging the whole system by upgrading?

just seems like a whole lot of trepidation about updating hsphere. My biggest concern is when we'll be able to use PHP5 cause we're falling way behind on the technology - which i can understand if the reason is to play it safe, but it would seem it's been long enough.
 
put ti this way, we have been told by the top comodo and psoft staff not to update yet.

If we updated in the next 2 weeks, 50% of windows sites would be down for 20+ hours. This is not acceptable to us, and we will not do it. (2 weeks is just a random figure what I mean is that if we upgrade anytime in the near term with current releases)

Being renamed hsphere 3.0 is nothing but marketing. It is really not anything but a new single server edition that limits what hpshere can do and a pricing change for this single server setup.
 
Well I hope there is a stable version pretty soon, due to the fact that we have lost two potential customers in the last week for no reason other than we can not offer PHP 5.
 
No, the change is because their new version changes everything as far as authentication goes, it changes the whole schema, in a way which I may add is insecure. Anyone that is here that may have customer only access to Psoft forums will know this.
 
Join the club. I kept losing customer due to PHP5 not being available. In fact the new version of mediawiki (the software used bu wikipedia) will not run on PHP4.

I finally had to find another reseller that offered PHP5. I still have my Jodo reseller account (with some existing customers), and hope that one day they will support PHP5, but the whole experience has really turned me away from Jodo.
 
I totally understand that we are losing some clients because we are not able to support PHP 5 currently.

But really, we are heading to a virtual disaster if we do an HSphere upgrade. As stephen suggested, we are looking at so many problems that we'll be overwhelmed. I as well as Stephen are in regular contact with the top management of Comodo/PSOFT. We are looking for HSphere 2.5 to become a little more mature before we take this big step. it is likely to be in a phase manner.

One large hsphere host recently attempted a 2.5 upgrade, and trust me we have many of their customers running to signup with us.

You will see progress towards 2.5 before the end of this year
 
Maybe it's time to consider dropping Hsphere. If this is really their fault then as each new technology is release then they will get further and further behind.
 
We have 17,000 end-users on HSphere. It's not easy.
And HSphere is really the only true multi-platform clustered hosting solution.
