Good Day Team,
I have been a reseller on Jodohost for some time now and am now in the process of upgrading one of my websites. One of things that I'll be doing is sending out newsletters and other automatic mails to members. I have already filled out and mailed the bulk mail permission form.
Although I have been sending automatic mails all along, these were always less than 20-30 per day. But now the numbers might be much higher so I thought I'll get some clarifications before moving ahead.
The automatic mails that I will be sending out are:
- Registration Verification: This is to verify the email address of the members who register on the website. I use a randomly generated key for verification. The email also includes a link to delete the account immediately and to add the email to a blocklist so that the system does not send any future mail to that email address (to prevent abuse). If there is no action from the user's end, the account gets deleted after 7 days and no further mails are sent to that email address.
- Re-send verfication code: If someone does not receive the verification email, they can ask to resend it. The website will allow this to be done only 3 times to prevent abuse.
- Welcome Message: The website will send a welcome message to members who complete the verification process. This is a one time email.
- Private message notification: The website will send email alerts to members if they receive private messages from other members. The website will provide a setting to disable this. The email will carry this link too.
- Forgot Password: Members can use this option to receive new password to their registered email.
- Contact Us: The website has a contact us form, which send emails to the webmaster.
- Inactive members: The website will send an automatic message to members who have been inactive for over 90 days. This is a warning that if they do not login, their account will be de-activated.
- Weekly and Monthly Newsletters: This is where the most number of email messages will go out on a weekly and monthly basis. The website provides an option to enable/disable this option for members. The email will also carry information on how to unsubscribe. Is there any precautions that I need to take because this may send out a lot of mails in one go.
- Other individual mails by webmaster: For example, when a user's account is removed or a warning is sent, This will be one at a time and will not be bulk mails.
All the outgoing mails will be sent using proper authentication credentials and will contain specific instruction for users to unsubscribe.
I'm looking forward to receiving advice/suggestion on the above so that I can provide a good experience to users on my website without spamming them.
Cheers!
