Migrating from Windows to Unix

I've always used windows plans in the past, but as my website has developed I need Unix for such features as htaccess. I've set up a new plan on my reseller account, and tested a remodelled version of my website to test the functionality and I'm now ready to switch an existing Jodohost windows hosted website to the Unix plan.

As this is all quite new to me, what is the best way to switch with the minimal of fuss? I'm guessing I delete the current windows account and just set up a Unix one with the same name, and then point the name servers in the right direction?

You need to take backup of your domain, database and mails. Then delete domain from current account and re add it in unix account. After that restore your domain file and database. You have to re-create your mail boxes. Then wait for domain propagation.

Kindly remember, Mails can NOT be restored. So, you have to take a local backup of it.

Thanks Manish, I thought that might be the case. Will the system try to retrieve any emails that people might send during the down time?

Sorry but new mail server will not able to retrieve it. All mails sent to old mail server will bounce back to sender as domain will not be configured on old mail server at that time.
