MSSQL1 OS Migration, Friday May 25th 11:30PM - Saturday May 26th 4:00AM EDT
DATE: 05/25/2007
START TIME: 11:30PM EDT (GMT -4)
ESTIMATED END TIME: Saturday May 26th 4:00 AM EDT (GMT -4)
SERVICES: SQL Services served by MSSQL1
TYPE OF WORK: OS Upgrade
PURPOSE OF WORK: Windows 2000 to Windows 2003
TASK DETAIL:
In order to stay up to date and prepared on our servers, we will be upgrading MSSQL1 from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 SP2 on Friday Night, 11:30pm until Saturday Morning, May 26th at 4am. This process WILL involve downtime, we will work to keep it as minimal as possible, but up to 2.5 hours may be required.
These changes are required to allow us to continue adapting to emerging attack threats, and to reduce the threat within our own network by having servers that are up to date and fully patched. Windows 2000 has very limited updates and fewer security patches than the fully supported Windows 2003.
