MSSQL11 Migration Notice Sunday Oct 4th, 1am-4am EDT (GMT-4)
MSSQL11 has experienced in the last 6 months 3 RAID failures with new drives installed on 2 of those occasions to fix the problem. This is abnormal and looks to be hardware related, so we will be migrating MSSQL11 off to a new server to resolve this problem.
The new server will also upgrade from dual to quad CPU giving more overall power to the server. The current server is a dual 2.3Ghz AMD server, and will move to a quad 2.33Ghz Intel.
During this migration it will be required to turn off the SQL services and copy the MDF/LDF files to the new server. This process will take between 1 and 4 hours to complete and bring online on the new server. During this time you may wish to put a custom error message or note of maintenance on your site as the DB will not be available.
We will begin the process at 1am EDT(GMT-4) Sunday Oct 4th and it should be completed by 4am, we have scheduled at this time to minimize impact as much as possible, and give enough notice to prepare for the migration.
To know if you have your MSSQL database hosted on this DB server, login to your end user panel, then go to 'Databases -> MSSQL -> MSSQL DBs'. If you see mssql11 next to label 'Hostname' this migration will affect you, otherwise it will not.
