Network outage... what happened to 100% reliablity

Hi,

I am reseller on Jodo and have been with Jodo for more than 3 years. The outage we experienced yesterday was the worst I have ever seen since I have been with Jodo. Now I know that the issue is being dumped on the vendor but I don't quite buy the limited explanations Stephen is posting. I will first quote something from Jodo's website under Why Jodo.

"The facility uses CISCO routers and switches setup for redundancy and reliability. We are connected by premium tier-1 carriers such as InterNAP which ensure 100% network reliability. This translates into faster downloads and better reliability for our customers."

So if one vendors link went down how come we had to experience such a prologned downtime. Why did the network not converge to another providers link? What happened to 100% network reliability? Why again is this going to happen when the fiber link provider is going to be upgrading their system? Why can't jodo switch over to the backup provider while the maintenance work is being done.

This was not with internap, this was with interbuilding communications.

I will post some more later, but totally different things going on here, there are interconnections at many levels.

I kept continual updates throughout on www.jodopulse.com and here both, I'd really hope I nor we left you 'in the dark' however you do need to know these URLs for reference, jodopulse.com contains the off network accessible link into this forum, and chat link as well.

I was 8o by the lack of an announcement and after spending hours on the phone with me that they did not inform me of it being multi night event as well.
 
Although I am generally satisfied by the service of Jodo for last 3 yrs+ but yes the outage has left behind a bad scar. Its evident from stephen's post that the datacenter Noc guys care two hoots for Jodo and its customers and they just never gave enough notices for such a major maintenace schedule spread over two days..pathetic.!! Who knows it might happen again?

That is very understandable, we have been there 3 years and a few issues, but none have kept me glued to the chair and phones as much as this one for such an issue. I am sending off some mails today to the chain of command to see what kind of response we get out of it.
