I am trying to set-up password protection on the admin directory of an oscommerce install. I followed the instructions to use htProtect through webshell but every time I try to use this method to protect the file I get a server error when I try to access the directory.
I filed a ticket with support, and he said the issue was with .htaccess and to delete it and reconfigure it.
I deleted the .htaccess file and replaced it with the default .htacess file from a fresh copy of oscommerce. This got rid of the server error, I could access the admin directory again; however this left the directory accessible and it was not password protected. So I went back to webshell and tried to protect the directory again, and same problem - internal server error while trying to access the directory.
I emailed support back, but I haven't heard anything.
What do I need to do to get the "protect" function through webshell to work properly?
