Hi, I am using PHP BB and I just cannot get it to send email. I have tried

Server - mail.mydomain.com
Username - [email protected]
Password - mypassword

that failed, then I tried localhost and removing username and password and that also failed ... any ideas?

I don't use phpbb but not had any other PHP apps using smtp auth having problems!

Any error message that is displayed there?
I think there is debug mode with phpBB that you can enable to see more info.
