Problem reaching JH-sites from a particular ISP

I've been a reseller with JH for a couple of years now and are mostly satisfied with their service.

My "clients" are only family and friends and as such there are no critical customers on my account.

A week ago however a friend of mine asked me why he didn't reach one of my domains and when I tested everything was ok. The problem seems to be related to the ISP Nextgentel.no as they stated on their customer pages that "Our customers may experience a problem reaching a small number of foreign websites. The problem is beyond our control"
I've tested this with other people and noone that are using Nextgentel can reach either my sites or the jodohost.com site.
Strange... When tracing the ip it seems to stop in Sweden at telia.se
I've been in touch with JH-support on this and they say (understandably) that it's beyond their control too... but something is wrong and my feeling is that the JH-servers somehow are blocked by someone for an unknown reason.

Does anyone out there have any idea how we can solve this.

I have also from time to time experienced problem with my emails as not everyone can receive emails sendt from a jh-domain it seems... It's VERY frustrating to have to explain that "my domain" somehow is blacklisted for reasons unknown to me...

Are JH more blacklisted than other hosts or is this something we just have to live with?

Anyone else from Norway here? If so, please check that anyone using Nextgentel can reach your sites.

this has nothing to do with a blacklisting, it is due to telia and cogent causing a ruckus for itnernet traffic in europe, they are playing petty games about who's the "bigger" company in Europe bascially, really messing up intercontinental routes.

You can read about it a bit here, but it doesn't really get into the problems it is causing globally because the companies are intentially announcing bad route making clients to go via dead paths to other places.

I am not sure if you heard a few weeks back about youtube going "down" due to some Pakistani ISP/carriers enforcing a government directive and instead of just blocking announcing bad routes. These badroutes then went out across much of the internet making sites go down for vast numbers of people.

You are experiencing the same effect here, there is not much we can do about it Telia and Cogent must get their act together to STOP this game they are playing and stop making customers suffer.

Thanks Stephen!
That does explain why they can't reach my sites, but does this also explain why some people cannot receive email from my domains on JH?

It would depend on their server location but yes it could be if there is a single homed provider to either telia or cogent that it won't work until this mess it resolved between these two providers.

On this newsreport about the conflict of Telia and Cogent http://www.idg.se/2.1085/1.151084
(only in Swedish) someone has made a comment that "Cogent is one of the largest ISP in the US and are known to be a low cost budget choice for many data centers"

Can you please comment on this?
Are JH connected via Cogent?
What reputation does Cogent have?

we have over 7 providers of which there is a cogent link as well, but not even a 'preferred' link, this spat is causing a lot of problems for the eu overall

I hadn't checked the page till yougave that, but it makes sense now that they are pushing these bad route since this is the case:
NextGenTel is a fully owned subsidiary of TeliaSonera

Iam facing the exact problem in INDIA (while accessing thru BSNL)

This was happening to a site few weeks back.

now, today morning, one site is having this problem

JH needs to find a way for this

Indian

Today,

there are complaints from clients from ONE particular location that sites are inaccessible

JH has to take immediate action on this

Indian

This is what is happening to me also. Some servers are extremly slow accessing, I mean slow. Im on cable. I also have DSL. I tested the same sites im having problems with at JODO on DSL and the sites that load slow on comcast cable, loads zoooming fast on DSL.

This is bad, can anything be done about this?????

There is nothing we can do to fix ISPs, if it is domestic ISP(webD) i highly doubt it is the telia/cogent issue.

A traceroute will be the only way to know.
