Problems downloading files from my Web site

Hi

I have upload some files on to my Web site (which is on Win2), whenever I attempt to download them I have the follow problems:

  1. The file is downloaded very slowly, several minutes to download a 5 MB file if I'm lucky, usually I get...
  2. "The connection with the server was reset" message and download is cancelled.

File 1 4.9 MB
File 2 2.4 MB

I have a DSL 2M connection! What's wrong with the server?

Gavin

i just tried the 4.9, it was slightly slower than ususal about 3/4 of usual

but not ot bad really

I downloaded the 4.9mb file at an average download 44kbps. Typical download rates for me are 85kbps or better from most sites.
I too use DSL on a 3 Mbps/ 384 Kbps plan

Update: I found that if the first attemt to download was aborted, the second attempt would give me a much higher rate. I tried this on the smaller file and acheived 155kbps average for the download.

I'm getting 12 KB/Sec on the 4.9 MB file now which is quite slow but at least I don't get the "The connection with the server was reset" anymore.

Is there a better way to test the download rate?

I tested a download in win2 a short time ago and got a little slower than my usual rate, of 145kb/s normally I get about 175(max). I just freed up a little ram more on win2 will know in a few minutes if that helped or not.

just curious, are you doing downloads via POST request? We installed a ms hotfix for a logging issue that "Resolved issue in logging when the request was sent via a post" basically it was logging that a few kb were transferred when it may be many megs. We has a user complain about their logs not being accurate because of it. I installed the update an did notice it updated http.sys (a main portion of iis), so I am curious if this has started since that update last sunday.

I just let my users download the files from the link I provided above, is that a POST request? If I remember correctly, before (a few months back) I could get at least 20 kb/s so everything has slowed down by half.

I just downloaded both the files you have in the first post at 121kb/s without any issue, is that a Pocket PC game? What version pocket pc does it require, if so?
