Question about nameservers

To what extent does the physical location of a nameserver affect the speed of a website ? I mean how long before it appears, not how fast it subsequently arrives on the local computer browser.

There is an outfit called ZoneEdit who provide a nameserver service, and they have their nameservers all over the place, which I suppose is to give a better response?

Are JoDos nameservers in the same place geographically? Would having them in different continents make any difference?

Thanks,
Rob

All of our nameservers are in Miami, it won't affect speed much really, in my experience.

Stephen - that was an amazingly fast response! Last time I was in Miami (3 weeks ago) I was in a Hyatt using their WiFi (provided by T-Mobile) and it was lightning fast - now I know why! The previous week I was in LA and the WiFi was like treacle - but there was also a conference in the hotel at the same time which I reckon was grabbing all the bandwidth. Right now in San Francisco (wired at the Argent hotel) it's very fast indeed.

Thanks for the info,
Rob. :)
