In an effort to bring more services and features to our clients, we will be performing a major control panel upgrade starting 11:30 AM CDT (UTC-5) on Saturday, September 15th, 2012. Here the control panel will be upgraded to Hsphere 3.6.0
New features that will be made available are:
1. PHP 5.3 Support (Default version on new servers. User selectable on existing.)
2. Mysql 5.1.63
3. Windows 2008R2 with IIS 7.5 (on new Windows web servers only)
4. Allowing "0" (zero) priority for MX records
5. X-PHP-Script header will be added e-mails sent through forms/scripts.
6. SSL Generation defaults to 2048-bits key length, allowing SSL Certificate management without support aide in most cases.
Please note, MySQL DBs will remain on version 5.1.49 for now and we will be upgrading DB servers for MySQL 5.1.63 one by one. There will be a separate announcement made for this, along with the possible schedule.
Upgrade process -
Hsphere upgrade of entire cluster will be done in phases.
Expected time to completion - 48 hours.
The first phase being the control panel server itself, this will involve the control panel services being completely down for about 3-4 hours.
Control panel will again be intermittently down at various times during the rest of upgrade process.
Linux web, and mail services will be updated next.
Estimated Webservice downtime is 30-60 minutes per Linux webserver.
Estimated mail services downtime is 30-60 minutes per mail server.
We shall post it on the fourms about the servers that are going to be upgrade in line.
The next phase will be server upgrades of windows servers and MS-SQL Servers.
We will strive to keep all outages to as minimal as possible, but up to 3 hours time is to be expected during the permissions changes. It may be some slightly longer than this but we will provide updates as frequently as possible on our support forums for each server as we upgrade. We do not anticipate web services offline for the entire 3 hour period above, but plan to have maintenance on each server this period of time. At least one reboot will be required for each.
All the overview updates for this process will be made available on this support forum thread:
