How can I know if I need a Semi Dedicated Server or not? When shall I take such a step and what's its major benefit?
 
They are really not available anymore, we will e updating the site in the coming month removing them. VPSes have replaced SD services.

but is VPS equivalent to SD?
A few clients on server win17 are facing some speed problems, and I don't know what I can upgrade in order to increase the quality and performance of hosting.

The problem is that the VPSs are unmanaged while the SD were managed.

So I really can't recommend to my bigger customers to go to a VPS when the shared servers no longer work for them.

I'll have to manage the VPS for them which means I have to charge them my normal fee plus the VPS fee plus a fee to manage it.

The total amount the client pays will come out about the same

But before SD went away my pricing was ~$30/month with free hosting for my service. I also state that if their website volumn grows enough that they will have to upgrade their hosting and I recommended Jodo SD. Since in that case they are going to Jodo directly for the SD my monthly price to them stays the same.

Now... If I recommend a VPS I have to also bundle in management of it because my customers are non-technical. So now I have to charge $90 a month.

The amount the customer is paying is the same but now the perception to them is that my price to them has tripled.

I hope you decide to start offering a managed (technical support) VPS.

I've clients on my reseller account want to upgrade the quality of the hosting, Semi Dedicated was the perfect solution for them. I am sorry it is not available now.
