i click enable shared ssl on an account, and i get "No shared SSL available in the system"

is this because i have non-shared ssl enabled for the service account?

You are going to change Reseller control panel URL to secure URL.
[b]Remember that the new URL will become accessible only after your hosting provider restarts the Control Panel.[/b]
By that time you won't be able to access your control panel.

Shared SSL support should be enabled in your Reseller control panel.
For this you may either use provider SSL, as per the instructions in below link:

You may also purchase and use your own wildcard certificate, as per the instructions in below link:
http://psoft.net/HSdocumentation/reseller/installing_shared_ssl_certificates.html

Securing your CP access is totally different thing. Normally, there is an automated internal notification for CP restart.
But, its always better to open a ticket requesting for an early restart.
