SSL Certificate for Reseller's WebSite

Hi!

We want to get a SSL certificate for our reseller's website so that when a client, for example, logs into their control panel that they do not see the certificate name mismatch warning.

Would we have it issued to cp.domain.com or domain.com?

If we are supposed to have it issued for cp.domain.com do we have to create a subdomain named cp?

Thank you in advance.

When you get a SSL key from any of the distrubiters (I use www.instantssl.com Have not had a problem with them yet...) I use a wildcard so i can use the same SSL key for the whole site including sub domains... e.g.... *.domainname.com ... so when u call https://secure.domainname.com it would work for www as well... with out security pop ups... its 199.00 for a 128bit 3 year cert. not a bad deal!

Funny that this comes up now... I just posted a thread in Chit-Chat about Registerfly's SSL Cert - http://www.registerfly.com/ssl/ for $24.95 wondering if anyone had used it before.

Hi Da Man!

I just looked at the instantssl site and the cost is $1,212 for a three year certificate for a wild card ssl certificate.

How did you get that price?

Thank you in advance.

LOL... not the wildcard cert... The astrix is a wildcard...

Here is a link http://www.instantssl.com/ssl-certificate-products/ssl/ssl-certificate-premiumssl.html?currency=USD&region=North%20America&country=US thats fot the pro cert when you are signing up for it just make sure you dont put in www. or secure. or whatever. before your domain name... If you call they can walk you thru it... There is also a cool reseller feature http://www.instantssl.com/ssl-certificate-affiliates/ssl-index.html?currency=USD&region=North%20America&country=US

I see what your talking about now sorry they must have changed that reciently... it used to have a wildcard feature for the PremiumSSL account... my bad...

to secure your control panel, get a certificate for cp.yourdomain.com

Don't buy a wildcard if you only want to secure your control panel.

I'd recommend ev1servers.net. They sell Geotrust certificates pretty cheap there

Hi Yash!

Do you have to create a subdomain named cp under your domain.com?

Or does this exist virtually because of the control panel?

Finally, if it does exist virtually how do you create a CSR for it?

Thank you in advance.

Whilst we are on the subject have there been any recorded cases of an unsecured control panel being compromised ? I don?t mean just mean here at jodo?? ?(
