"unix2" is being migrated off the current server to a newer hardware.
Hardware configuration for this new server is:
Dual Opteron 246 CPU
4GB DDR RAM
1 73GB + 2x73GB RAID1 SCSI
Operating System - CentOS4.4
Services being hosted on this server are:
web
mysql
ns2
pgsql
The server migration was already in plans due to following reasons:
1. It still runs the legacy Rehdat 7.3 operating system for which OS or application updates are no longer available.
2. Psoft EOLed support for Redhat 7.3
3. To clear upgrade path to Hsphere 3.0 that doesn't supports this OS at all.
A major reason has caused us to move real quick with this migration. One of the drives in RAID array has failed on unix2 and we wish to proceed with an immediate preventive migration. The drives in current server have been in service for more than 3 years and performed quite well. Based on our past experiences, we are not willing to take any chances here and would like to move clients off the server asap.
The migration will start Monday, April 23 at 1:00 AM EDT.
We apologize for the short notice here. Further updates will be posted to this thread.
