Win19 Migration to new hardware starting 5:30PM EDT(GMT-4) May 3rd

Win19 has had a number of RAID array failures, and they are continuing to happen on a regular basis going through many drives in the process. The backplane is more the problem than the drives themselves as it is always the same slot that dies. Due to this we are taking the course to migrate off this hardware and onto a new server.

This migration will be in place and only the time the IPs are changing will there be any outage, approx 30seconds to 1 minute. Sites will remain on both servers live thought the duration and the only difference you will notice starting at 5:30PM on Win19 is that Hsphere control of the server will not be functional, and FTP on Win19 will be disabled. Once the sites are onto the new server the control panel will be functional and properly running again.

The actual change of the IP addresses will not occur until between 11PM and 2AM, starting at 5:30PM will be users, and permissions.

We will maintain backups and the Win19 server for some days after the migration so if there is any data sync needed again please make us aware and we will copy over from the old server to the new manually.
Please feel free to inquire if your domain is going to be affected in the process, or if you have another other query related to this migration.

FTP Services have been stopped for some time now, we have done a content sync to the new server, and Hsphere control of Win19 is not functional at this point, we will update when further progress has happeed but at the moment all sites are up and running and we are simply working behind the scenes.

User creation took a bit longer than expected but is done, permissions are setting on the new server now, and will take at least 1.5 hours.

We are in this case running a bit behind what we'd thought but since no sites are down and there is not any huge rush to move it because of this fact, we are ensuring that everything is correct on the new server before taking it live.

We are now going to start moving a few dedicated IP sites and checking them out in the process.

The shared IP and a number of dedicated IPs now running off the new server, we are still moving some dedicated IPs as well.

all sites are moved now, except a small few that had some error and we moved back to the old. Client will be getting a mail in the next 24 hours regarding these and working to help get moved over.

We did notice about 4 cases of directory index order changing on the dedicated IP sites, so if you are getting a wrong page displayed you may want to check the order of the directory indexes, or FTP in and delete/rename the conflicting files.

We found many people had not deleted the original index.html that hpshere put up years ago and it was showing in place of their default.asp or index.asp :)
