Win5 Hard disk replacement

Win5 has been behaving unstably for the last one week due to corruption on its file system. To correct the issue and to return win5 to 100% stability, we will be swapping Win5's hard disk with a backup hard disk that is approximately 6 days old and which is completely error free. The swap itself would take a matter of minutes and the server would be immediately up. The swap will take place on November 4 at 8am EST

If you recently updated your files via FTP on Win5, that data will not be immediately available once the disk has been swapped since the hard disk is 6 days old. After the disk is swapped, we will begin an update process where the files on the swapped disk are updated with latest files prior to the swap however this process could take upto 20 hours to complete.

If you do not wish to wait that long for your data to be updated to the latest, we recommend you download a copy of your files and reupload them right after the swap has been complete (we'll announce completion). The new files you upload will NOT be overwritten by the update process running (the update process will only replace those files which are older than those before the swap).

If you have added new domains to Win5 within this 6day period, you'll have to go into your control panel after the swap and turn off then on "Web Services" for each of those domains. This procedure would hardly take a few minutes and you will NOT have to recreate the entire domain

This procedure has been devised to ensure almost no downtime. I hope our customers understand that such issues with filesystem and disk corruption are possible with any web hosting company and we are taking proactive steps to ensure it doesn't spiral into major downtime and problems.

If you have any questions, please do open a ticket and they will be addresses.

We thank our customers for their cooperation

We have rescheduled the shift to November 4th as an email announcement regarding this issue wasn't properly sent out and hence many customers are not currently informed

We are having an issue with RAID separation. Please give us another 5 to 10 minutes more and we should be up

The server has been put back online 5 minutes ago
Update process will begin shortly. Those who want to update their files immediately can

Your web statistics may appear to have been reset. That would be corrected after the update process is completed in approximately 20 hours

To answer a few more questions:

1) You can open a ticket to have your request for files to be updated to be done immediately
2) Turning off then on web services will not delete files
3) If you get a permission error while performing an operation, please open a ticket
4) All files are beinhg updated from a copy taken just before the swap. If you update your files, they won't be overwritten

I am deleting all the threads regarding this now considering all questions have been answered here

The update procedure has been completed now.

The entire operation has been carried out pretty much trouble free. We will be correct log files on Win5 within the next 20 hours.

We thank our customers for their cooperation. Win5 looks great now!
