Wordpress 2.9 and MySQL

I remember reading that JodoHost is now on MySQL 5, but when I try to upgrade to Wordpress 2.9 I get this error

The update cannot be installed because WordPress 2.9 requires MySQL version 4.1.2 or higher. You are running version 4.0.27.

I've searched around and it appears that some people have to backup the database, create a new one in v5, and then restore it.

Is that the case here as well or would the upgrade be automatic?
 
So all JodoHost MySQL servers are now running version 5? Even old cluster 1 servers? I don't recall such an announcement and a quick search here comes up empty.

No, all servers have not been upgraded. The process of upgrade is not 'flawless' indeed it has quite a few errors.
 
I guess the better way to have asked is "Does this mean that a MySQL 5 server is available to all accounts, even older accounts on old cluster 1 servers?" I see now that creating a new database on one of those old servers does indeed put it on a newer MySQL server. I didn't check the version, but I assume it's the newer version. This is cool. I'm glad I spotted this thread because I missed the announcement.

8o We did not announce it as it has not been working as such, I will need to test with SQL 2000 now as well.
 
I'm finally getting around to this and I created a new db, but then I still get the same error message that I'm still on v4.0.27.

(I'm on the mysql5 server)

Do I need to move my clients to another server to use MySQL v5?
 
I request to you please open a support ticket with mention all details. We will check it and provide to you all information.
