wrong rdns results

Hey guys, I'm "DNS Stupid" and am trying to educate myself a bit before I contact support with my issues.

Here's the deal... if I "dig -x any-of-my-assigned-jodohost-ip-addresses", some domain name is returned that I've never heard. Can anyone explain why this might be?

Thanks,

David (vps261)

David,

It may be that the IP you have belonged to someone else at one point, and if it is yours now you can simply request a change :)

We have had VPS services now over 2 years and there is a small churn rate as part of the business, so sometimes resources will be reused.

Hi Stephen,

I guess that makes sense. What doesn't, is I've been with you guys for two years (this month) and I'm only now realizing I have DNS "issues" lol

David

As an aside and so that the above post isn't taken the wrong way, these "issues" are of MY making; not Jodo.

actually the IPs having rDNS probably saved you from having issues even if wrong it was returning some result making mail delivery and other tasks work that may otherwise fail :)
