sorry seems like the previous binutils i gave is an incompatible version, try this: ftp://itp.tugraz.at/pub/redhat/9/RedHat/RPMS/binutils-2.13.90.0.18-9.i386.rpm

try installing this first ftp://fr.rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/7.3/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/binutils-2.11.93.0.2-11.i386.rpm

you should install first glibc-devel-2.3.2-95.33.i386.rpm then try installing gcc-2.96-113.i386.rpm again. probably it will again tell something is missing, you can find that file in the list i gave above and try installing it first

what kind of errors? the installations have some dependcies over each other, I'm not sure of the correct order, but if you try to install the wrong one first it will tell you which one you should install first. sorry for my english, hope that you can understand what i mean.

after some research in google, i installed this rpms and now I have gcc running like a charm, now I can install proftpd 8) cpp-2.96-113.i386.rpm gcc-2.96-113.i386.rpm glibc-2.2.5-44.i386.rpm glibc-common-2.2.5-44.i386.rpm glibc-devel-2.3.2-95.33.i386.rpm...

how can i install gcc in vps servers, as there aren't any compilers installed I guess I should find a precompiled one. I looked at http://gcc.gnu.org/install/binaries.html but couldnt find one for redhat, anyone has any idea?
