And what happens if you disable the firewall and the antivirus? Don't disable it for long, just long enough to test.

I've seen similar behavior using Outlook Express on a corporate network. When I get on a different network, it downloads them fine. Are the messages still on the server (can the employee get to them through webmail)? What firewall,AntiVirus Gateway, spam filtering are you using?

For everyone's knowledge, what was the problem?
