Can I use SMTP or PHP mail() on phpBB 3.1.8

Are all SMTP or PHP mail() ports blocked.

Can I SMTP using Gmail.com or Elasticemail.com to send email via phpBB 3.1.8.

If not is there an solution that you can advise me to use.

You can use port 587 or secure SMTP if you need outside SMTP servers, with authentication. We won't allow unauthenticated to port 25.
