Just wondering what is the meaning of Jodo and how did you come up with this name?
Do you pronounce it "Jo Doo" or just "Jodo"?

it's pronounced jodo (like pogo). I didn't choose the name so I don't know what it means. Atul may be able to shed some light on it.

The only thing I know is that one spanish customer claimed that it meant fraud 8o No wonder we don't have too many spanish customers ;)

While selecting the name for this company, we had a list of words with and without meanings. Initially I selected Jodo as a meaningless word. We then did some research on its meaning and liked it even more.

I found that Jodo is widely used in Japan. It has Buddhist meaning i.e. enlightenment by following a certain path. Literal meaning of Jodo is Pure Land or realm. Jodo also means "Adding" in one language.

We have many customers from Spanish speaking countries. Only one said that its meaning is not positive. However, I searched in a Spanish language dictionary but did not find it there.

I just asked one of my Japanese colleagues... he says that "Jodo" is just the way they say "you're the"

"you're the host"

I think they've been given the official term "big fat karate fighters."

I like to call them "jodos"

You have to look for the verb 'joder' which has "negative" meanings in spanish. "Jodo" is used in *first* person.

Look here for example:

http://buscon.rae.es/diccionario/drae.htm

And in the textbox enter "joder" and then press the [Enter] key

Hi guys,

My native language is the Spanish, and the word "jodo" to my at least does not produce any "distrust to me", is more, these are some conclusions that the word in if it does not have anything of negative:

1) If we watched it after the side "Practicar el coito", he is not for anything negative (on the contrary the doctor has recommended highly :p )

2) "Annoying", to annoy (jodohost is possibly annoying to other suppliers, which is not negative for jodohost, if for its competitors) 8)

3) "To destroy, to ruin, to throw to lose", possibly this if he is negative (but again for the competitors, hehe) 8)

4) "Annoyance, irritation" (sure always they are negative things for competitors, sure) and "astonishment" (this I leave it criterion to your)

Finally, but not less important (and excuses my joke), "jodo" seems to be the husband of the Yoda (the one of Star Wars) :D

So you're saying that the full connotation of Jodohost is possibly 'The irritating, sex-practicing, destroying host of astonishment', but that no native spanish speaker would find this in any way negative. No problem, then, that's the important bit. ;)

But now you tell us that Yoda is gay? Well, that throws an entirely different light on the whole Star Wars series. It's all beginning to make sense.
